BWDA celebrated International Women’s Day 2021 on 8 March 2020 at BWDA Enclave Villupuram. Dr. C. Joslin Thambi, Founder and Managing Director, Mr. Shankar, Judge, Mr. Mukesh, Manager, ADB SBI Branch, Ms. Alphina Jos, VP, and Mr. Santharam, GM participated in the program.
Mr. Shankar explained the importance of giving women complete freedom and the right to make decisions. He also explained the various laws that are in place to protect women and children.
Dr. Thambi explained the importance of Self Help Groups and how BWDA has empowered women. Mr. Mukesh stressed the importance of the work of BWDA and SHGs. Ms. Alphina called upon women to choose to challenge in line with the 2021 theme. Further, she asked women to help, support, and raise each other. Mr. Santharam also stressed the importance of financial inclusion for women.
